Scholarship Information



The Cleveland Association of Broadcasters (CAB) administers and awards the annual Cleveland Association of Broadcasters Scholarships to qualifying students (see Eligibility section below).

For 2020, the Cleveland Association of Broadcasters will award Two (2) Scholarships in the amount of $2,000 for applicants of 4-year undergraduate or graduate institutions and One (1) $1,000 Scholarship for applicants of 2-year and recognized certificate institutions. These Scholarships are non-renewable.

The 2020 Scholarship Application is now available. Scroll down to complete application online or click here to download a printable application for returning by regular mail along with letter of recommendation from a faculty member, typed essay and information release to: Cleveland Association of Broadcasters, PO Box 15294, Cleveland, Ohio 44115 or via e-mail to by Sunday, March 1st, 2020. Scholarship winners will be notified on or about March 31st, 2020 with scholarships being awarded at the Awards for Excellence Luncheon.

Please read this application carefully and fill it in completely.


Applicants must:

  • Be enrolled as a full time student (sophomore or junior standing) in a four-year institution or part time/full time student in a graduate program for the $2,000 level and in a 2-year or recognized certificate institution for the $1,000 level (as of Fall 2019)

  • Have a declared major in communications, journalism, media, advertising, broadcasting or a related field

  • Be in good academic standing and possess a 3.0 or better grade point average (on a 4.0 scale)

  • Home residence in the Cleveland/Akron/Canton area*

  • Demonstrate extracurricular involvement and/or practical field experience

  • Include a written recommendation from a faculty member

  • Provide a type-written essay of no more than 250 words on the “Responsibilities of the Broadcast Industry in the year 2020.”

Lorain, Medina, Portage, Stark, and Summit


Your completed application packet must be returned to the CAB by March 1, 2020. A completed application packet includes: this application form, one letter of recommendation from a faculty member at your institution, and the required essay. The recommendation should be from a faculty member who is familiar with your character, achievements and commitment to furthering your education as stipulated in the section on eligibility. You must sign the application, providing permission for the registrar from your institution to release information on your grade point average to the CAB.
